It was the 82nd Year of King Yuri's reign, close to the dawning of a new spring. Winter was slowly retreating back to wence it came, and emerald paths were starting to show themselves amongst the vanishing snow. The tri-kingdoms were completely at peace. It was upon this day, a thursday, that the prince rushed out of the palace in an agitated state. Tears stung his eyes as he prepared to magically enhance his voice to the entire kingdom. It was then that we first recieved news of the Great King Yuri's passing. Citizens everywhere stopped what they were doing. Weavers left cloth unfinished, and smiths left unshaped daggers in the forge. The entire nexus community came to a halt, in shock of the news. All my life as a protector of the peace, I had very few encounters with our King. Growing up in the early years of his reign, he was something of a mythical being, a man of fantasy and legend. It was the very first anniversary of the nexus that I first laid my eyes upon the king. Dressed regally in his koguryian dyed robes, his long beard that he seemingly was born with hung past his waist. Despite his royal garments and winterfrost beard, I could tell that he was a great warrior. He greeted each and every citizen with a smile and handed them a great shining sword, unlike anything we had seen before. Many speculated that they were forged from the likeness of the zibong sword, as they were very similar in shape, but nothing compared to the great power that they embued to the owner. King Yuri watched in glee as soon every person in the nexus held a sword. It did not matter if they were a a barbaric enemy of the palace or the kingdoms, a criminal, a kind monk, or the prince m'hul himself, King Yuri on this day did not turn away one person who approached him. This considerable display of compassion gave hope to the entire nexus community that dispite everything, through all the battles that may come, our King would remain a gracious one. Every year precisely on this date, King Yuri would arrive and distribute the swords once again, and each year we would be reminded of his compassion, honor and kindness. His passing occured only days before the eighth anniversary of the nexus. Despite his sickness, he still forged ahead and ensured that our citizens would have their anniversary. In the nexus, we learn from our earliest days that "Death is not the end". I believe that he will not be absent from this anniversary, nor any of the ones that lay ahead in the future. I wish that wherever our gracious King is, that he is well. Koguryo and all of his citizens will continue to grow and his legacy will never be forgotten. All Hail King Yuri!
